CORVAC-3®

Haemophilus paragallinarum Bacterin

For the vaccination of chickens five weeks of age or older, and three to four weeks before the onset of lay, as an aid in the prevention of infectious coryza, caused by infection with H. paragallinarum (serotypes A, B or C).

Description
CORVAC-3® is an inactivated oil adjuvant emulsion bacterin for the control of infectious coryza. It is approved for use in chickens 5 weeks of age or older via subcutaneous injection.

Product Features
· Broad-spectrum protection against all serotypes of infectious coryza.
· Dependable development of immunity.
· High antigen content and potent adjuvant to stimulate maximum immune response.
· Contains Merck Animal Health’s safe, stable oil adjuvant.

Indications
CORVAC-3® is indicated for the vaccination of chickens 5 weeks of age or older, and 3 to 4 weeks before the onset of lay, for protection against infectious coryza, caused by infection with H. paragallinarum (Serotypes A, B or C).

Administration and Dosage
Allow the vaccine to reach ambient temperature, 16-27oC (60-80oF), before use and shake vigorously before and periodically during use. Inject 0.5 ml subcutaneously in chickens using an 18 gauge x ½” or ¼” needle. Proper development of immunity requires the administration of 2 doses, separated by at least 4 weeks.

Vaccination
The best protection is obtained when the vaccine is used as an initial vaccination in chickens at least 5 weeks of age, followed by a second vaccination not earlier than 4 weeks after the initial vaccination. The second vaccination should be at least 3 to 4 weeks before the onset of lay.

This bacterin may cause a mild local reaction at the site of injection when administered to chickens. If shock is observed, this is usually attributed to handling stress.

Caution
1. Refer to the package insert for specific directions.
2. Vaccine should be stored in the dark in a refrigerator between 2-7oC (35-45oF).
3. Chickens should be in good health when vaccinated.
4. Do not administer this vaccine during the critical laying period from the onset until after peak production. Administration of this product during the lay period may result in a drop in egg production.
5. Do not vaccinate chickens within 42 days of slaughter.
6. Do not mix this vaccine with any other substances.
7. Vaccination equipment must be cleaned and sterilized before use. Do not use vaccination equipment with rubber parts, as the oil emulsion may degrade certain types of rubber.
8. Do not administer this product by intramuscular injection.
