Mechanism of Action
Specifically designed to target two key factors involved in the transmission of Lyme disease—OspA and OspC.1
View Nobivac™ Lyme’s borreliacidal action
| OspA borreliacidal antibodies can only kill Borrelia in the feeding tick. | | OspC borreliacidal antibodies can kill Borrelia in the tick and in the dog. |

Nobivac™ Lyme combines 2 distinct isolates of
Borrelia burgdorferi grown under laboratory conditions for optimal effectiveness.
Isolate 1 is a traditional B. burgdorferi isolate that stimulates production of borreliacidal antibodies to outer surface protein A (OspA).
Isolate 2 is a unique isolate that stimulates the production of borreliacidal antibodies to outer surface protein C (OspC).1
Because it is made up of these 2 isolates, Nobivac™ Lyme provides an extra layer of protection against B. burgdorferi infection in dogs.
Nobivac™ Lyme is also able to provide a broad level of protection against Lyme disease because both of these isolates induce borreliacidal antibodies. There are other vaccines available, but they do not induce high levels of borreliacidal antibodies against OspC.
Borreliacidal antibodies are highly protective antibodies that bind to specific outer surface proteins of B. burgdorferi and kill them.
Some Lyme vaccines induce non-borreliacidal antibodies that bind to Borrelia antigens, but do not kill B. burgdorferi. The most effective protection comes from borreliacidal antibodies that kill B. burgdorferi.
The ability to target both OspA and OspC is critical to preventing transmission of B. burgdorferi from an infected tick to the dog.
Nobivac™ Lyme borreliacidal antibodies….
Nobivac™ Lyme is uniquely designed to match the shifting physiology of B. burgdorferi spirochetes.
