Raised on a farm in Georgia, Dr. Pam Ford developed a lifelong passion for animals, growing up alongside horses and Charolais cattle. This early connection to animal husbandry profoundly shaped her values and commitment to animal welfare.
After earning a Finance degree from the University of Florida, Dr. Ford began her professional journey in the banking industry, where she simultaneously pursued an MBA from the University of South Florida. However, it was her deep-rooted love for animals that ultimately inspired her to transition into veterinary medicine.
Pam went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida, gaining invaluable experience in internal medicine, preventative care, and surgical services during her eight years in small animal practice. Her commitment to animal health led her to join Merck Animal Health as a Professional Services Veterinarian. Today, she serves as the Associate Director of Drug Safety, where she plays a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness and safety of veterinary drugs, furthering her dedication to animal well-being on a larger scale.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Pam is passionate about contributing to her community. She actively engages with the Deaf community, taking classes in American Sign Language interpreting and serving as Treasurer on the board of directors for the Family Center on Deafness in St Petersburg, FL. Her dedication to serving diverse populations reflects her belief in inclusivity and community support.
“My journey from the fields of Georgia to the heart of veterinary medicine has taught me that true fulfillment lies in following one’s passion. As I strive to ensure the safety and well-being of animals and embrace the beauty of diverse communities, I am reminded that every life I touch fuels my commitment to making a difference—one hoofprint, one heart, and one connection at a time.”
Currently residing in Seminole, FL, Pam loves spending time outdoors, whether it’s biking, paddleboarding, or kayaking, often with her 3-year-old Havanese, Piper, by her side. This year, she is particularly excited to check off a long-held travel aspiration with a trip to the Galapagos Islands, alongside other adventures such as a bike trip in the scenic Loire Valley. Pam’s journey is a heartfelt blend of professional dedication and personal fulfillment, underscoring her unwavering commitment to animal safety and welfare.
