In our latest series, I Am Animal Health, colleagues from around the world share their stories that exemplify the great work we do — and remind us why we strive to be the best animal health company in the world. Here, we feature Glenda Fefee, associate director, Baton Rouge, LA (U.S.) site operations lead.
Glenda Fefee has worked for the company for 32 years, and her first years on the job were like an extension of home. Her mother worked for the company, and when she got to work, she already knew several of her colleagues.
Glenda has held roles across many pieces of the business. She began in operations, and over her time has worked in warehousing, procurement, finance, quality control and back to operations. Ultimately, Glenda returned to operations because as our industry has transformed, it’s become a broader role.
“My job is to continue to work as lead of operations on the pharma side of the business, but also transition that role to the identification side of the business, ensuring our customers have what they need, making sure that their demand for our products is met, and then adding in the safety aspect of it, the quality of our products, the health of our employees,” she said. “So it’s now operations on a broader spectrum.”
In 2016, the Baton Rouge, LA site was flooded. The entire site took on five feet of water. When the water had receded, and Glenda was able to get back to the site, she thought 30 years of work was gone forever. She said the company had a different vision.
“They showed up. They showed out,” Glenda said. “They not only provided that stability and security that we were used to, but they also provided for our families. They took care of us in a way that we never would have expected.”
