In our latest series, I Am Animal Health, colleagues from around the world share their stories that exemplify the great work we do — and remind us why we strive to be the best animal health company in the world. Here, we feature Shelbi Perry, territory representative, U.S. Swine Business Unit.

Shelbi Perry’s love of animals is in her blood. “My dad raised show pigs,” she explains, saying she grew up showing pigs since the time she was 4 or 5 years old. “That passion led me through university where I got a degree in Animal Sciences and a master’s in that as well,” she says.

In between pursuing her degrees, Shelbi did a Swine Sales Internship with our company and knew she had found her home. “I really loved the environment and the culture here. And I think that’s what really catapulted me into the animal health space,” she says.

A self-proclaimed “science nerd” but also incredibly social, Shelbi says her position allows both sides of her personality to shine. “I get to nerd out on the science part of things like the pharmaceutical process and what it takes to get our vaccines through into the market,” she says. “But then I also get to engage with my team and with my customers and build those relationships.”

Shelbi says each relationship with her customers is different and the work is very meaningful. “Each of the people who I work with care greatly about animals…getting to hear their stories, their experiences, and just really trying to hone in our experience to them, to make it the best we can, is something that means the most to me.”
