How to use Exzolt

Exzolt uses fluralaner as its active ingredient, offering a different approach to Northern Fowl Mite control. Once ingested, Exzolt:

Estimate how much water the birds will drink in 6-24 hours. (Use the day before as a reference.)
Calculate amount of Exzolt needed by determining flock total weight in pounds and multiply it by .023 millilitres (or use dosing chart).
Use the included syringe to measure and add Exzolt to first drink of the day. Mix gently to prevent any excess foaming.
Draw fresh water into the syringe and flush it into the mixture to add any remaining Exzolt.
Refill with fresh drinking water once the treated water is gone.
Repeat the process once after 7 days to break the mite life cycle and control mites that were in the egg stage during the first administration.

How can I tell if my chickens have mites?

Northern Fowl Mites are tiny and can be difficult to spot. If your flock is infected, you may notice:

Feather pecking
Restlessness or unusual behavior
Increased self-grooming and head scratching
Fewer eggs or changes in egg quality (thin shells, spotting)
Weight loss and eating less
Anemia (pale comb and wattles, dullness, reduced egg production and weakness)

Where do Northern Fowl Mites come from?

Mites can be brought into your flock by wild birds, rodents, new chickens or equipment that has come into contact with infested birds. Even well-cared-for backyard flocks can get mites.

Will mites go away on their own?

Unfortunately, no. Once Northern Fowl Mites are established in a flock, they continue to reproduce and spread. Treating them early can help prevent a small problem from becoming a larger one.

How much Exzolt do I need?

The amount of Exzolt needed depends on the total weight of your flock. As a general guideline, the dose is 0.023 mL per pound of flock weight per treatment. Exzolt is administered twice, seven days apart.

Not for use in humans. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. Accidental exposure may cause skin and eye irritation. Accidental ingestion may cause gastrointestinal disturbances and hypersensitivity reactions in humans. Chickens must not be slaughtered for human consumption for 11 days after the last treatment.
