Dennis Chmiel, DVM

Professional Services Veterinarian,
New Hampshire (NH)

Dr. Dennis Chmiel combines decades of clinical insights, industry experience, and strategic leadership. In his current role with Merck Animal Health, he collaborates with veterinary professionals to connect pharmaceutical innovation to clinical applications in the areas of dermatology, parasitology, and vaccinology. His background and training give him a unique perspective on how medical breakthroughs can translate into better outcomes in everyday practice. As a seasoned veterinarian and business leader, Dr. Chmiel recognizes both the challenges and the opportunities in advancing veterinary medicine in a rapidly evolving landscape.

He holds an Executive MBA from the University of New Hampshire’s Whittemore School of Business & Economics and is a graduate of Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with a BA in Biology (Psychology minor) from Canisius College. While busy traveling to veterinary clinics around New England, he also enjoys staying involved in clinical practice near his home in New Hampshire.

He shares his life with his spouse, Dr. Mary Ann Sanfilippo, Associate Director of Pharmacovigilance at Merck Animal Health and his partner since their pre‑vet days in Buffalo, NY. Their household includes two loving Brussels Griffons, a mischievous kitty, and an almost‑30‑year‑old leopard gecko who’s witnessed every stage of their family’s life! Outside of work they enjoy traveling, wildlife viewing, and long walks with their dogs.

“My professional purpose is to make life better for pets and the people who love them through science and compassion.”
