How can SenseHub Cow Calf support my breeding program?

SenseHub Cow Calf is an additional tool for producers to utilize when making breeding decisions. The technology may help increase conception rates by pinpointing when a heifer or cow is in estrus and identifying ideal insemination windows. SenseHub Cow Calf may also be used to reduce calving intervals and dependency on reproductive hormones.

How does the breeding window work?

The breeding window is a graphic representation of the estrus period when the cow is ready for insemination and her current position on this timeline. It provides guidance on the most appropriate time for AI within that 30-hour timeline, optimizing the breeding conception rates. The black pointer moves from the left (26 hours = Heat peak/Heat alert) to the right (0 hour = Ovulation). The best moment is during the green period, available three hours after the heat alert for a period of 16 hours. An additional breeding window is available for sexed semen.

What kind of reports could I receive?

Reports, alerts and dashboards are fully customizable to best fit your operation. Types of reports available are:

Yes. SenseHub Cow Calf is ideal for:

Producers whose monitored cows can be within 1,050 feet of the controller at least once a day
Producers who primarily use AI and/or ET practices for reproduction
Producers with off-the-farm commitments that keep them from checking cattle in the pasture each day
Producers who need to monitor cows from a distance

SenseHub Cow Calf may provide vital insights into cow behavior post-calving to protect the female’s physical wellbeing.

Can data be collected in a remote or large pasture setting?

Yes, our SenseHub Cow Calf customer success team will do a site survey to help determine what equipment is needed for your operation.

How soon can I identify open females after breeding?

You can detect a heifer or cow that didn’t conceive at 21 days post breeding. Anestrus animals also are reported, so you can identify those not having regular cycles. You also can get a report for animals suspected of aborting.
